Types of Honours and Awards

• The highest award under the HKSAR Honours and Awards System
• To recognise the selected person's life-long and highly significant contribution to the well-being of Hong Kong

Awarded to eminent persons who have given very distinguished service to the community or who have rendered public or voluntary service of a very high degree of merit

Awarded for acts of gallantry of the greatest possible heroism or of the most conspicuous courage in circumstances of extreme danger

Awarded to persons who have taken a leading part in public affairs and/or voluntary work over a long period of time

Awarded for gallantry of an extremely high order

Hong Kong Police Medal for Distinguished Service (PDSM)

Awarded to selected disciplined directorate officers in the Hong Kong Police Force in recognition of their exceptional and meritorious service to the community

Hong Kong Fire Services Medal for Distinguished Service (FSDSM)

Awarded to selected disciplined directorate officers in the Fire Services Department in recognition of their exceptional and meritorious service to the community

Hong Kong Immigration Service Medal for Distinguished Service (IDSM)

Awarded to selected disciplined directorate officers in the Immigration Department in recognition of their exceptional and meritorious service to the community

Hong Kong Customs and Excise Medal for Distinguished Service (CDSM)

Awarded to selected disciplined directorate officers in the Customs and Excise Department in recognition of their exceptional and meritorious service to the community

Hong Kong Correctional Services Medal for Distinguished Service (CSDSM)

Awarded to selected disciplined directorate officers in the Correctional Services Department in recognition of their exceptional and meritorious service to the community

Government Flying Service Medal for Distinguished Service (GDSM)

Awarded to selected disciplined directorate officers in the Government Flying Service in recognition of their exceptional and meritorious service to the community

Hong Kong ICAC Medal for Distinguished Service (IDS)

Awarded to selected disciplined directorate officers in the ICAC in recognition of their exceptional and meritorious service to the community

Awarded to persons who have given outstanding service over a long period of time, but in a more limited field or way than that required for the Silver Bauhinia Star

Awarded for exemplary acts of gallantry of a lesser standard

Hong Kong Police Medal for Meritorious Service (PMSM)

Awarded to selected disciplined officers of all ranks of the Hong Kong Police Force for their valuable services characterised by resourcefulness and devotion to duty marked by exceptional ability, merit and exemplary conduct

Hong Kong Fire Services Medal for Meritorious Service (FSMSM)

Awarded to selected disciplined officers of all ranks of the Fire Services Department for their valuable services characterised by resourcefulness and devotion to duty marked by exceptional ability, merit and exemplary conduct

Hong Kong Immigration Service Medal for Meritorious Service (IMSM)

Awarded to selected disciplined officers of all ranks of the Immigration Department for their valuable services characterised by resourcefulness and devotion to duty marked by exceptional ability, merit and exemplary conduct

Hong Kong Customs and Excise Medal for Meritorious Service (CMSM)

Awarded to selected disciplined officers of all ranks of the Customs and Excise Department for their valuable services characterised by resourcefulness and devotion to duty marked by exceptional ability, merit and exemplary conduct

Hong Kong Correctional Services Medal for Meritorious Service (CSMSM)

Awarded to selected disciplined officers of all ranks of the Correctional Services Department for their valuable services characterised by resourcefulness and devotion to duty marked by exceptional ability, merit and exemplary conduct

Government Flying Service Medal for Meritorious Service (GMSM)

Awarded to selected disciplined officers of all ranks of the Government Flying Service for their valuable services characterised by resourcefulness and devotion to duty marked by exceptional ability, merit and exemplary conduct

Hong Kong ICAC Medal for Meritorious Service (IMS)

Awarded to selected disciplined officers of all ranks of the ICAC for their valuable services characterised by resourcefulness and devotion to duty marked by exceptional ability, merit and exemplary conduct

• Awarded in recognition of community service in a district or in a particular field over a long period of time
• Also awarded to non-directorate civil servants who have served with distinction

• Awarded to disciplined officers in the Hong Kong Police Force with exemplary character and good conduct who have completed certain years of satisfactory service

• Awarded to disciplined officers in the Hong Kong Auxiliary Police with exemplary character and good conduct who have completed certain years of satisfactory service

• Awarded to disciplined officers in the Fire Services Department with exemplary character and good conduct who have completed certain years of satisfactory service

• Awarded to disciplined officers in the Immigration Department with exemplary character and good conduct who have completed certain years of satisfactory service

• Awarded to disciplined officers in the Customs and Excise Department with exemplary character and good conduct who have completed certain years of satisfactory service

• Awarded to disciplined officers in the Correctional Services Department with exemplary character and good conduct who have completed certain years of satisfactory service

• Awarded to disciplined officers in the Government Flying Service with exemplary character and good conduct who have completed certain years of satisfactory service

• Awarded to disciplined officers in the Government Flying Service Auxiliary Section with exemplary character and good conduct who have completed certain years of satisfactory service

• Awarded to disciplined officers in the ICAC with exemplary character and good conduct who have completed certain years of satisfactory service

• Awarded to disciplined officers in the Auxiliary Medical Service with exemplary character and good conduct who have completed certain years of satisfactory service

• Awarded to disciplined officers in the Civil Aid Service with exemplary character and good conduct who have completed certain years of satisfactory service

Awarded to selected persons for their outstanding performance in a single act or a single project or the service to the community which falls just short of the requirement for a Medal of Honour

Awarded to selected civil servants and public officers for their outstanding performance in a single act or a single project or outstanding service in a department or office which falls just short of the requirement for a Medal of Honour
